Publisher Earnings Policy

How you Earn:

Published Videos

For every View of one of your Videos by a Fan (excluding Replays and any Views during a Channel Pass Period by a Fan that has purchased a Channel Pass), we will receive Cast Credits from the Fan according to the Price. To calculate the cash amount due to you for that View (which will be credited to your Wallet’s Earnings Total) we will deduct from the Price as follows:

  1. if the View was generated due to a Fan using “Share & Earn”, we deduct Cast Credits based on the amount that you agreed to ‘share’ based on the Share Ratio that you set for the Video at the time of the View (unless a Channel Pass was used for the View, in which case no deduction will be made).

The remaining Cast Credits will be converted into a cash sum (in pounds sterling) on the basis of 1 Cast Credit being equal to £0.01.

We then deduct from that cash sum:

  1. any applicable taxes (including VAT or other sales taxes) at the prevailing rate in the territory where the Video was Viewed, any other surcharges which we pay in connection with the View, and our “Fee”, as described in our Schedule of Tariffs (which may be varied from time to time). This establishes the “Net Earnings”.

From the Net Earnings, we then deduct:

  1. if the View was generated due to another Publisher using Share & Earn, the amount you agreed to ‘share’ based on the Share Ratio that you set for the Video at the time of the View (unless a Channel Pass was used for the View, in which case no deduction will be made). This will establish your “Earnings”.

Finally:

  1. if you tagged other Publishers using the “Tag & Split” function, we then deduct from your Earnings their split of the Earnings based on the percentage you allocated to them for that Video at the time of the View (unless a Channel Pass was used for the View, in which case no deduction will be made).

The remaining amount after the deductions set out above will be the amount due to you for that View. This will be credited to your Earnings Total in your Wallet.

All calculations are based on working to 3 decimal places for Cast Credits and 6 decimal places for Pounds Sterling (or as may otherwise be required by tax authorities etc).

Channel Passes

For every Channel Pass that you issue to a Fan, we will receive Cast Credits from the Fan according to the relevant Price. To calculate the cash amount due to you for the issuance of that Channel Pass (which will be credited to your Wallet’s Earnings Total), the Cast Credits received will be converted into a cash sum (in pounds sterling) on the basis of 1 Cast Credit being equal to £0.01. We then deduct from that cash sum:

  1. any applicable taxes (including VAT or other sales taxes) at the prevailing rate in the territory where the Channel Pass was purchased by the Fan;
  2. any other surcharges which we pay in connection with the provision of the Channel Pass; and
  3. our Fee, as described in our Schedule of Tariffs (which may be varied from time to time).

This establishes your Earnings, which will be the amount due to you for the issuance of that Channel Pass. This will be credited to your Earnings Total in your Wallet.

All calculations are based on working to 3 decimal places for Cast Credits and 6 decimal places for Pounds Sterling (or as may otherwise be required by tax authorities etc).

Sharing Videos

If you share another Publisher's Video using the Share & Earn function (either via your Channel or outside the Platform using the generated link), and this generates a View of that Video, a percentage of the Publisher's Net Earnings for the Video based on the Share Ratio set by the Publisher at the time of the View will be credited to your Earnings Total in your Wallet (unless a Channel Pass was used for the View, in which case no credit will be made).  You acknowledge that by sharing Videos you are helping to grow the Platform and increase Views of Videos. As such you are providing Recast with a service and when you cash out VAT will be added, if applicable, to your Share & Earn earnings.

Tag & Split

If a Fan Views a Video published by another Publisher and, at the time of the View, you have been tagged by the Publisher using Tag & Split, you will earn your split of the Publisher’s Earnings based on the percentage they allocated to you for that Video at the time of the View (unless a Channel Pass was used for the View, in which case Tag & Split will not apply). Your split of their Earnings will be credited to your Earnings Total in your Wallet. You acknowledge that by having contributed to the Videos you are tagged in, you are enhancing the content available on the Platform and helping to grow the Platform. As such you are providing Recast with a service and when you cash out VAT will be added, if applicable, to your Tag & Spilt earnings.

Currency exchange

All our calculations of your Earnings are made in Pounds Sterling and unless otherwise agreed with you we will make payment to you in Pounds Sterling.

Schedule of Tariffs

Published Videos:

The table below indicates our Fee per View.  Fees per View are calculated as a percentage of the Price of the Video after the deduction of VAT/Sales tax, other surcharges, and any Cast Credits due to Fans through Share & Earn). VAT/Sales tax is determined by the applicable tax legislation in the jurisdiction in which the Fan is located.

Our Fee for Views directly via https://the.recast.app or https://watch.recast.tv Our Fee for Views via a Publisher Environment (using the Recast iFrame Widget)
Fee for each View of an on-demand Video 20% 25%
Fee for each View of a live stream Video 20% 25%

Worked examples:

For simplicity, we have rounded the numbers in the worked examples to two decimal places whereas, in practice, the calculations will be made to three decimal places for Cast Credits and six decimal places for Pounds Sterling. VAT and sales taxes may go up or down and are indicated at the current rates at the date of publication of this Earnings Policy.

1. A Fan Views your on-demand Video directly via https://the.recast.app or https://watch.recast.tv (i.e. a Recast iFrame Widget has not been used). The Fan redeems Cast Credits to do this (i.e. they don’t use a Channel Pass). The Price of the Video is 120 Cast Credits, and a Sharing Ratio has been set by you at 20%. The Video is Viewed directly (i.e. not via a Share & Earn link), so no Share & Earn deduction is made. You have not used Tag & Split on the Video.

2. A Fan Views your live stream Video directly via https://the.recast.app or https://watch.recast.tv (i.e. a Recast iFrame Widget has not been used).  The Fan redeems Cast Credits to do this (i.e. they don’t use a Channel Pass). The Price of the Video is 120 Cast Credits, and a Sharing Ratio has been set by you at 20%. The View results from a “share” by a Publisher, so a Share & Earn deduction is made. You have not used Tag & Split on the Video.
