What is a fan?

A fan is anyone who watches content powered by Recast. Setting up a fan account is free and easy to do. Content is purchased with Cast Credits, of ‘Casts’. Casts are Recast’s unique in-platform currency. Content is priced from just 1 Cast per minute (which is equal to 1p per minute). Casts can either be purchased or earned by sharing videos or data, or by inviting friends to join.

What is Recast?

Recast is the fair content & payment distribution network. Where publishers can grow reach and revenue without barriers and fans can get flexible and affordable access to the content they love.

Is Recast free to join?

Yes, it’s free for fans to use Recast. Content is available on a PPV basis and purchased with Cast Credits, of ‘Casts’. Casts are Recast’s unique in-platform currency. Content is priced from just 1 Cast per minute (which is equal to 1p per minute). Casts can either be purchased or earned by sharing videos or data, or by inviting friends to join.

How do I join?

Joining Recast is easy to do and totally free. Simply click ‘join’, on the top right of the video players widget on the website you’re looking to watch content on:

Then input some basic details or use your Facebook or Google login, we’ll send you a verification code via email to check you’re not a bot and that’s it – you’re in and can start watching content right away.

Complete your Data Profile and you’ll be rewarded with an additional 10 Cast Credits, and if you opt-in to share your anonymised data with Recast and the Publisher.

Using Recast

What is a Channel Pass?

A Channel Pass is a pass that allows you access to a Channels’ content for a specific time period, set by the Publisher. This is a one time purchase and will last for the set amount of days specified from purchase. The purchase price is also set by the Publisher. During this time you can watch as much content on that specific Channel as you wish.

After this period ends you will no longer be able to watch the content and will either have to purchase another Channel Pass or individual pieces of content.

Can I watch content powered by Recast on my TV?

Yes! You can watch Recast content on your TV either by connecting your laptop via a cable to your TV, using Google Chromecast or Apple Airplay, or through the Recast Google TV app.

Is Recast available in languages other than English?

Recast is currently available in English, Italian, Spanish (both Spanish and South American Spanish), Portuguese (Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese), and Arabic. You can change the language in the settings tab of your Recast profile, by clicking on the ‘cog’ icon.

How can I earn free Cast Credits?

You can earn Free Casts in three different ways:

  • Share and Earn - Share the video / stream you’re watching with friends / followers via the share link. If they watch the video you’ll get free Casts! The amount of Casts you’ll get will depend on the Share & Earn percentage set by the Publisher for that piece of content.
  • Invite & Earn - Earn 100 free Casts everytime you invite your friends to Recast. To do so, get your unique share link from your Recast Wallet and send it to your friends. As soon as they sign up and watch content you’ll earn 100 Casts.

What currencies can I purchase Cast Credits with on Recast?

You can currently buy Casts Credits in British Pounds, Euros, US and Australian Dollars. If Casts are not currently available in the currency you would like to buy them with, please let us know at customerservice@recast.tv.

What are Cast Credits?

Casts Credits are a unique in-platform currency, used to purchase content on Recast. 

One Cast is equal to 1p. Casts can be purchased at any time or earned by sharing videos or data, or by inviting friends to join. Your Recast Wallet shows how many Casts you have available to spend. Your Casts cannot be exchanged for a monetary equivalent, but if you think you have made a deposit in error, please contact us at customerservice@recast.tv.

What is Invite & Earn?

Invite & Earn allows you to earn 100 free Casts every time you invite a friend to use Recast. 

To do so, get your unique share link from your Recast Wallet and send it to your friends. As soon as they sign up and watch content you’ll earn 100 Casts.

I’ve run out of Cast Credits, how do I get more?

Cast Credits can be purchased at any time or earned in-platform by sharing videos or data or by inviting friends to join. 

Your Recast wallet shows how many Casts you have available to spend. You can purchase Casts with a credit/debit card or using Apple or Google Pay. Invite a friend to join and you’ll receive 100 Casts when they purchase their first piece of content. Complete your Data Profile and you’ll receive 10 Casts if you opt in to share your anonymised data with our advertisers.

Account Settings and Access

How do I delete my fan account?

To delete your account, log in and click on your Recast profile, then click on the settings icon and select ‘Delete My Account’. Follow the steps to delete your account. If you need assistance, please contact us at customerservice@recast.tv.

I’m having issues signing in

If you’ve just joined, check your spam folder for the verification email. If you’ve forgotten your password, use the ‘forgotten password’ button on the sign in screen.

If you’re still having issues use our Live Chat on the site or drop helpme@recast.tv and email and we’ll get you sorted as quickly as we can.

How do I reset my password?

You can reset your Recast password by following the steps below:

  1. Tap on the ‘Forgotten password’ button on the sign in pop up screen.
  2. Type in your email address used when you set up your account
  3. We’ll email you a ‘reset password’ link (so check your emails and junk)
  4. Tap on the link, received by email and reset your password
  5. Use your new password to sign into your account

Troubleshooting

What happens if I miss the start of a live stream I’ve purchased?

You can join a live stream at any point when you’ve purchased it. If you’ve missed the start and the publisher has chosen to provide a replay, they are usually published between 2-3 hours after the event has finished.

Please note that replays are published at the discretion of the channel owner and may not always be available.

I’m having issues with a stream

Having problems with a stream? Here are a few things you can try to fix any issues:

  • Refresh the page.
  • Log out and log in again.
  • Check you’re using one of our recommended browsers: Safari (Apple devices), Chrome or Edge. If you’re not, please try one of these browsers instead.
  • Make sure your browser and operating systems are up to date.
  • If you are using a VPN or Adblocker try turning these off.
  • Make sure you are on your own personal network.
  • Make sure you have allowed your browser to play audio and that your audio setup is working correctly for other sounds.
