Recast Terms and Conditions Glossary

This list of terms used in our T&Cs and policies is intended as a useful guide only. The terms will have the meaning given to them in the T&Cs or policy document, as applicable.

Access Pass

In the "Other Key Terminology" section of the T&Cs

A pass that will allow the Recast User to watch all of the Inventory Items made available by the Vendor for a specified period. Referred to in parts of the UI as a Channel Pass 

Access Pass Period

In section 2.3 of the Fan Terms, “Redeeming Recast Credits for Access Passes”

The 1, 3, 7,14, 21 or 28-day period (or other periods which may be added from time to time) for which the Access/Channel Pass is operational for the purchasing Recast User, after which point it will expire. 

Brand

In the "About Recast" section of the T&Cs

The public-facing view of Vendors, which may include a collection of Inventory Items they have or published on their Vendor Account or shared from other Vendors to be viewed and accessed by Recast Users.

Chat Display Name

In section 5 of the User Terms, “Live Chat”

The name of a Recast User which is displayed when they interact via the Live Chat functionality. This may be the Recast User Account username or an alternative name the Recast User chooses.

Content

In the "Other Key Terminology" section of the T&Cs

All videos, audio content, live stream video and audio content, images, graphics, pictures, text, messages, emojis, reactions, sounds, information, applications, code, data, materials or any other content in whatever format and whether known now or invented in the future.

Cooling-Off Period 

In the Refund Policy, “Consumer rights to refunds for purchased Recast Credits” 

This is the 14-day period after a consumer purchases Recast Credits on the Platform, during which they are entitled to cancel the purchase and claim a refund for any unused Recast Credits. 

Dormant Account

In section 12.1 of the General Terms, “Dormant Recast User Accounts” 

A Recast User Account which has been inactive for a period of 13 consecutive calendar months or more. 

Recast User (sometimes referred to as Fans)

In the “How we refer to you, and which terms apply to you” section of the T&Cs

A User with a Recast Account who can therefore view access items sold via the Recast Wallet in full, and earn, purchase and redeem Recast Credits.

Recast User Account

In section 1.1 of the User Terms, "Registering a Recast User Account"

A Recast account set up by a User to give them access to the Platform as a Recast User.

User Content

In the "Other Key Terminology" section of the T&Cs

Any Content submitted by a Recast User which is published on the Recast Platform by the user using any of the services we make available to them via the Recast Platform (including the Live Chat functionality). Recast User Content includes any aspects of a User’s Platform ID which may be displayed on the Recast platform and seen by other Users when viewing certain live stream Videos).

Recast User Details

In the "Other Key Terminology" section of the T&Cs

The information a Recast User (Fan) submits to the Platform when signing-up for a Recast User (Fan) Account (including their Platform ID), when updating their Account details, or when responding to optional requests from us to provide further personal information.

     

Live Chat 

In section 5 of the Fan Terms, “Live Chat”

The ‘live chat’ functionality made available to Recast Users during certain live streamed Videos.

Recast Platform

In the "About Recast" section of the T&Cs

Includes The Recast iFrame Widget (including versions of it available via a Vendor Environment), Recast for Business, Recast Account Screens and any other Recast websites, software applications and technologies owned by Recast and used to deliver Recast services to Vendors and Recast Users

Platform ID

In section 1.1 of the User Terms, "Registering a Recast User Account" 

A User's 'identity' on the Platform, which may include a ‘handle’, account name, a profile image, and, for Vendors, their Brand name(s). 

Price

In the “Other Key Terminology” section of the T&Cs 

The number of Recast Credits a Recast User needs to redeem to Access any Inventory Item or obtain an Access/Channel Pass (as applicable).

Protected Work

In section 3 of the General Terms, “Notification of infringing Content”

Any Content made available on the Platform which a User believes constitutes infringement of another party’s intellectual property rights.

Publisher

In section 4.2 in the "About Recast" section of the T&Cs

A subset of a Vendor account type who has permission to upload their own Videos to the platform and earn money from the sale of them

Vendor Account

In the "About Recast" section of the T&Cs

An account set up by a Vendor to give them access to Recast for Business.

Vendor  Content

In the "Other Key Terminology" section of the T&Cs

Any Content which a Vendor decides to upload, stream, publish or otherwise make available on the Recast Platform for other Users to view.

Vendor  Environment

In the "About Recast" section of the T&Cs

A website, app or other digital platform onto which the Recast iFrame Widget is embedded or where Inventory items are made available for access via the Recast Wallet.

Vendor

In the “About Recast” section of the T&Cs

Person or entities who are granted Vendor  status by Recast and, as such, have the right to have a Brand on the Platform on to which they can create inventory items and/or earn money from sharing other vendors’ inventory items

Recast Credits (formally Cast Credits)

In the "About Recast" section of the T&Cs

The reward credits used on the Platform that can be earned or purchased and are redeemed in return for accessing Inventory Items or Access Passes on the Recast iFrame Widget, on a Vendor Environment or anywhere else via the Recast Wallet and Platform.

Recast for Business

In the "About Recast" section of the T&Cs

The website from which Vendors can upload and publish Vendor Content, create Recast iFrame widgets and manage their Brand and Vendor Account.

Recast iFrame Widget

In the "Other Key Terminology" section of the T&Cs

The functionality of Recast for Business which may be made available to some vendors which will offer those Vendors the ability to embed an iFrame widget within their Vendor’s Environment so that their Videos or videos of other Vendors can be viewed from there via a Recast owned window which will appear on the Vendor’s Environment.

Replay

In the "Other Key Terminology" section of the T&Cs" 

A repeated/subsequent View of a Video by a Fan who has already redeemed Recast Credits to View it.

Refund

In section 2.8 of the T&Cs, “Refunds”

The amount of Recast Credits returned or money refunded or paid to a Recast User in respect of an Unsatisfactory Inventory Item.

Share & Earn

In the Reward Policy

The functionality which allows a User or Vendor Brand to receive a share of the Price of an Inventory Item when another Recast User pays Recast Credits to access the inventory item as a result of them sharing a link to the Item (or for Vendors only, as a result of them sharing the Item on a Recast iFrame Widget).

Third Party Properties

In section 9 of the General Terms, "Third Party links" 

The websites, applications and/or other digital properties of third parties.

Unsatisfactory Inventory Item 

In the Refund Policy, “Return of Recast Credits for Unsatisfactory Items”

An Inventory Item which did not meet a Recast User’s reasonable expectations. For example, if the length/content of a Video did not meet the description or the quality of a live stream was not of reasonably satisfactory quality.

User

In the “How we refer to you, and which terms apply to you” section of the T&Cs

Any person who accesses or uses the Platform.

Videos

In the “About Recast” section of the T&Cs

On demand videos, audio content and live streams uploaded by Publishers and made available to Users to watch or listen to on the Recast Platform.

View

In the "Other Key Terminology" section of the T&Cs

The action of a User watching a Video (or in the case of audio content, listening) on the Platform beyond its preview. 

Wallet

In the "Other Key Terminology" section of the T&Cs

A virtual Recast wallet. For Recast Users, this is shown in their Account and indicates the Recast Credits currently available to them.
